About YPHS

We help young people discover what they can become.

Youth Prime Hub Society is a youth development and opportunity organization serving young people ages 14–24 in Kamloops, BC.

Who We Are

A youth development and opportunity organization.

Youth Prime Hub Society (YPHS) is a youth development and opportunity organization serving young people ages 14–24. We help young people discover their strengths and direction, build the skills and capacity they need, gain real-world experience, and connect with people and opportunities that can move them toward greater independence.

Rather than trying to provide every service ourselves, YPHS works with mentors, employers, professionals, tradespeople, educational institutions and community organizations to help young people access the right support and opportunities for their individual pathway.

Why We Exist

Potential without a pathway.

Many young people are not lacking ability, ambition or ideas. What is often missing is direction, practical guidance, supportive relationships, real-world exposure and access to the right opportunities.

YPHS exists to help bridge the space between potential and opportunity. Rather than telling young people what they should become, YPHS helps them discover what they can become — and works with the community to help build the pathway to get there.

"We don't tell young people what they should become. We help them discover what they can become — and build the pathway to get there."

— YPHS Core Philosophy

Our Story

How YPHS began.

YPHS began with a simple question: What happens when a young person has potential but no clear pathway to turn that potential into opportunity?

Founder and Executive Director Valentine Uwakwe saw that many young people were not lacking ability, ambition or ideas. What was often missing was direction, practical guidance, supportive relationships, real-world exposure and access to the right opportunities.

He also recognized something important: the community already holds much of what young people need. Employers have opportunities. Professionals have knowledge. Tradespeople have skills. Entrepreneurs have experience. Older generations have wisdom. Schools, training providers and community organizations have resources.

The challenge is helping young people discover where they want to go, prepare for that direction and connect with the people and opportunities that can help them move forward.

That idea became Youth Prime Hub Society.

Founded in Kamloops in 2025, YPHS was created to help bridge the space between potential and opportunity. What began as an idea has grown through conversations, youth activities, intergenerational initiatives, community partnerships and practical experiences. The vision remains simple: young people should not have to figure out their future alone.

Valentine Uwakwe, Founder & Executive Director of Youth Prime Hub Society

"When I meet a young person, I don't start by asking what is wrong with them. I want to know what is inside them — their strengths, interests, ideas and possibilities.

I started YPHS because I believe potential needs more than encouragement. It needs direction, development, experience, people who will open doors, and opportunities to take the next step.

We don't need to build everything ourselves. Our community already holds enormous knowledge, experience and opportunity. YPHS exists to help build the bridge between that community and the young people who can benefit from it.

If we can help a young person discover what they can become and help them find a pathway toward it, then we have done something meaningful."
